WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT BOB BIGELOW'S TALK "Bob's message rings very true: let kids be kids. No one makes the Olympics at age 9. I played every sport imaginable before college; none of them well - thankfully my parents and coaches let me have fun. This event is a must see for parents and coaches!" Jeff McLaughlin - World Champion '87, Olympic Medalist Seoul '88, Barcelona '92 (and lousy kid athlete) - Wexford, PA "This is the best presentation I've seen anywhere on any subject. If you're the parent of a child involved or soon to be involved in youth sports, see it!" Aaron Vittone, Pittsfield, MA "Bob's presentation was exceptional. It should be included in all youth training. He's right on target." Don Schofield, San Antonio, TX Bob's refreshing talk helped us remember the purpose and reason for why we participate the kids!" Al Bashevkin, Bennington, VT "Bob is a captivating speaker. His presentation is very informative, point-of-view compelling and enlightening. Parents and educators will truly benefit from Bob's written and spoken words on youth sports." Sarah Caldwell, Libertyville, IL "Bob's presentation should be required learning for all youth sports organizers, coaches and parents." Sandra Place, Waltham, MA "Bob's presentation was extremely thought-provoking. The overwhelming response was positive. He presents this topic in an entertaining and challenging manner." Bill Dexter, Portland, ME |
| Bob is one of the foremost lecturers in the
country regarding the needs of children in youth sports, and using common
sense approaches to meet those needs. Bob is a former NBA 1st round draft
pick and 4 year NBA player. He played collegiately at University of
Pennsylvania for Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly. He has spent thousands of
hours researching and lecturing about youth sports and their effects on
children and adults. Bob is the author of "Just Let the Kids Play". Bob's mission to put the youth back in youth sports has received wide media attention Sports Illustrated, CNN, The Boston Globe, New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, New England Sports Network, Toronto Sun to name a few. During the past twenty years we have seen as explosion of organized youth sports activities. Whether team sports-baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball or more individualized endeavors-gymnastics, martial arts, skating, swimming, tennis and track and field and wrestling there are numerous opportunities for our children to participate. Some benefits of these activities: working toward common goals, learning new skills, using sports as a natural social outlet, having fun and building confidence. But there are also costs: increased pressures to perform and specialize at ever-younger ages, a fanatical desire by adult coaches to win and a senseless lack of sportsmanship by adults and children alike. During the past decade, Bob has helped thousands of adults to keep their youth sports involvement in perspective while enriching their children's experiences. Bob is not just an advocate for youth sports, he is an advocate for all the kids, including yours! |
