NOTICE - May 24 (with info recieved May 23
snail mail) - On Saturday, May 12, the
Executive Committee met and finalized the format, dates and most rankings
for the WPSLA Playoff Championship format.
Guidelines include that the
host team is determined by ranking and not by regular season score. Example:
Upper St. Clair beats North Allegheny during the regular season. USC playoff
ranking is 7th while NA is 3rd. NA is the host team. The higher seeded
team is host throughout the playoffs.
Host teams MUST provide certified
medical personnel prior to start of game. No game should begin without
the required certified medical personnel, scorer's table, game and penalty
timers, multiple end line balls or preferably enders.
Division 2 and 3 rankings
have been determined, with Division 1 rankings to be finalized the evening
of Wednesday, May 16th.
Good sportsmanship and cooperation
throughout the playoffs will be expected from each and every team. Parents
and Coaches will be relied upon to convey and mandate these requirements
in order to ensure the highest level of quality competition.
The WPSLA Championship game
is tentatively scheduled to be played at Peters Township HS on Saturday,
June 2 at 7:00 p.m. - Frank LoCastro - Pres. WPSLA
NOTICE: - April 25 - Andre Sanders, one of the officials who does WPSLA games, has been kind enough to compile a complete set of directions to all the schools of the boys teams in the league. He has taken the time to update this list with the most recent info including detours for Fox Chapel & Shady Side. The master set of directions is now available on the site on the "Directions" page in addition to the directions I have been able to link on the site. Thanks Andre! - Ed.
Latrobe, PA - April 11 - On Sunday, April 29 at
2 pm the Saint Vincent College Men's Lacrosse team will take on
Lees-McRae College. The St. Vincent coaching staff is extending
an invitation to join them on campus that day to all of the Pittsburgh
area junior class members who play lacrosse. They will be free to
tour the campus, interact with current students and watch them play. Of
couse, everyone is invited to watch them take on Lees-McRae.
They are very interested in mining the local talent pool because they
believe the Pittsburgh lacrosse players have the skills to play on the
collegiate level. They just need the opportunity. They feel
that, there, they can provide an opportunity for local players to play
competitive lacrosse in a challenging academic atmosphere. They hope
you can join them. If you have any questions contact Peter Tulk
