Was The Labour Party a War Criminal ?
The question must be asked why did the UK side with America to invade Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan in 2001?
Was it really and truly to locate Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) or could it be for some other strange reason?
Assuming the plan was to find WMD it was a total disaster as there were none.
But what was the intended plan of battle? Had it been thought out properly? Clearly when it was discovered that the WMD did not exist it also became clear that the Labour Government had not drawn up or thought out an exit strategy. What a serious mistake for a Prime Minister to make!
Firstly before you occupy a country you need to plan an exit strategy.
Before committing troops and human lives to a war unless you are a stupid you must have a very good exit plan. If not then you are committing your country and their brave soldiers to an undetermined length of conflict with unknown casualties and loss of life.
If this was intended to be Blair's defining moment there can be no doubt that it was an utter disaster with implications for Gt Britain which will run on for many years in the cost of human life.
Before making a decison to invade obviously any prudent leader would naturally want to cover all the issues. Surely that is simple common sense is it not?
Obviously you would wish to ensure that the Soldiers had all the required equipment to do the job as safely as possible.
For example you would not commit the Army with out making sure tha they had the proper armoured plated vehicles and not the snatch Land Rover's which were designed for Northen Ireland and constructed to run on a tarmac road not in the desert.
Again you would ensure that they had Helicopters that were properly equipped for example available with winches so they could air lift casualties from the ground, with out having to land in a mine field. You would believe that this would be an essential requirement wouldn't you?
Extremely sadly Cpl Mark Wight died on 6th September 2006 and the Oxford coroner attributed his death to a lack of equipment and he stated that those responsible for allowing such a situation to occur should "hang their heads in shame". Clearly Gordon Brown and his Labour Government need to hold their heads in shame.
With a Helicopter with a winch he and his comrades could have been lifted from the ground. On 14 January 2008, the Guardian Newspaper reported that Wright might have been saved if the Army had been provided with adequate numbers of winch-equipped helicopters. Unfortunately most winches had been withdrawn due to a fault in a sub-system which meant that Wright and his fellow soldiers had to wait over five hours before being evacuated by a US Blackhawk Helicopter.
This, of course, makes me very angry to think that courageous young men from the Army should have to lose their lives because of lack of equipment!!!. Gordon Brown was the Chancellor at that time I think he is the one that needs to hold his head in shame. After all he was the man that told the Chilcott enquiry that funding to the armed forces had increased in real terms every year but he had to withdraw that statement as in fact they had only increased in cash terms. Yet again he failed.
If it had been my decision that there was absolutely no alternative other than to invade then I would have used my loaf before commiting my country and of course I would have involved all the members of my cabinet including the Chancellor of the Exchequer who claims he was ignored and never consulted.
The key person in the Government who should be involved would have to be the Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time ex PM Gordon Brown but as usual he denies any involvement or responsibility. Perhaps he was hiding in his bunker dreaming up more complicated taxes!
I am not speaking with the benefit of hindsight as this is obvious to a 12 year old chess player. You do not throw all your pieces into a chess game with out some thought. You make careful opening moves and place your pieces in the right places as you develop both your defence and attack. It's called having a strategy!
When all of this was going on where was Mr Prudent the ex Chancellor of the Exchequer Brown he appears to have stated that he was not involved or in deed took any part in the decision making process. How can this be? Surely he would have to provide funding for the war effort would he not?
Clearly any normal Chancellor would have insisted on knowing about any intended committment least the people would say he failed in his job.
There is no doubt that Brown completely failed in this and he bottled out of doing his job properly to ensure that he was kept fully advised over Blair's intentions over the Iraq War.
Clearly the Labour party can no longer be trusted as they have completely lost their moral compass.
History speaks volumes in that Tony Blair's first six years in office as Prime Minister he had ordered British troops into battle five times, which is more than any other PM in British history.
The conclusion that I have to form is that The Labour Government is a War Monger
