Achieving Your Degree Online Is Easier With Financial Aid
The Commonwealth of Virginia places a lot of importance in delivering a quality education. It boasts its share of excellent institutions. To make sure a proper number of local citizens have a shot at enrolling to these schools, the state has also set up its share of scholarship programs. Reading about education scholarship will prepare you and ease the transition into college.
It should be noted when it comes to scholarships, Virginia has some very eclectic choices. They can be merit-based, but can also not quite be shoehorned into standard fare. For example, take a look at some of the packages available to the citizenry inside the state borders (and sometimes to neighbors Maryland and the District of Columbia).
On the competitive side, there is the Lee-Jackson Scholarship. High school students are invited to produce original and well-researched essays on two of the Virginia’s most fondly remembered citizens, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. True, both these civil war generals fought on the losing side, but last year Virginia managed to award two dozen different high school students $1,000 each to the college of their choice in Lee and Jackson’s illustrious names.
Like several other states, Virginia also has its version of the Robert C. Byrd Honor Scholarship. Again, this version is available to state residents, but can be used for any school in the country. The important factor here is you must be nominated for the award by the high school you are graduating from. If the Byrd’s executive board agrees with your school, you will receive $1,500 a year towards your continued education.
As noted before, the Algier Scholarship is open not only to Virginians, but residents of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Like the infamous 19th Century novels, a candidate must have risen up from a “life of hardship.” They must not only have gotten a 2.0 or better grade point average in high school but have participated in meritorious service to their community that would be considered a cut above everyday good citizenship. For their charitable efforts, the recipient will bet a $2,500 a year scholarship to the school of their choosing.
Recognizing the country’s need for more people in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) professions, five of Virginia colleges have come up with an organization called the Space Grant Consortium. This group offers an array of about six or more scholarship packages, ranging anywhere from a basic $1,000 a year to as much as $8,500. It also has a $5,000 fellowship for post-graduates. The only other proviso is the student must go to one the five universities. Staying up to date with the latest facts about scholarships for college will be valuable and can uncover more options for assistance.
Another very individualistic program is available through the Virginia Dept. of Transportation. If one pursues a degree and career in civil engineering, and also goes to one of the nation’s approved schools in the field, they can get a scholarship of $7,000 a year plus a summer internship. They must also maintain a 2.5 GPA while doing so.
Virginia has a number of other forms of college aid available to its citizens. It ranges from vocational and online colleges to much more traditional settings. Taking the time to research graduate scholarships and the many programs that are available can help to make college more affordable.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Does Washington Mutual Stock have any value?
Is their any chance, even if it would take 5 to 10 years that Washington Mutual stock, WAMUQ, has any value? The price is very low and I am very confused how the whole take over works. If you could explain that, that would be appreciated. If the stock really won't change then why is it still on the market?
Answer:
The stock is still trading because it still exists, even though it has "practically no assets." JP Morgan Case did not buy Washington Mutual Inc., the holding company, it bought its subsidiary, Washington Mutual Bank, from FDIC for $1.9 billion last September.
There are still lawsuits pending. Once all the lawsuits are settled, and all the legal bankruptcy's "i's are dotted and T's crossed" the stock should disappear. So do NOT buy it.
