McDowell Trojans started their season by notching a 9-8 victory over
WPSLA Divisional opponent Allderdice High School (Pittsburgh, PA) last
night at Gus Anderson field. Junior midfielder Phil Johnson led all
scorers with six points on four goals and two assists and senior attackman
Jimmy DeMatteis notched two goals and three assists in the contest. The
outmanned Allderdice team put forth a gutsy effort and kept brought the score
close late in the game. The Trojans overall record is 1-0 and they are 1-0 in
their division. Allderdice falls to 0-4 on the year and 0-2 in the division.
Come see the Trojans face-off against Baldwin High School on Saturday, March
31, 2007 at Gus Anderson Field. The varsity play at 2:00 pm and the JV
face-off at 4:00.

Erie, Pa . - Mar 31 - The McDowell Trojans couldn't hold on to a fourth quarter lead as the Baldwin Fighting Highlanders came from behind for a 10 -9 victory this afternoon at Gus Anderson field. Junior goalie Andy Smykowski made 17 saves and senior captain Jimmy DeMatteis tallied his second five point game in a row, with two goals and three assists, but it was not enough to overcome the mistakes down the stretch that allowed Baldwin to come from behind. The Trojans overall record is 1-1 and they are 1-0 in their division. Baldwin improves to 1-3 overall and has yet to play a divisional game. The Trojans travel to Trinity High School in Washington, PA on Thursday for varsity and JV action.

Washington, Pa . - April 17- The McDowell Trojans jumped to an early first half lead and then withstood a late game rally to seal a 14 -13 victory against the host Trinity Hillers. McDowell Senior Attackman Jimmy DeMatteis and Junior Midfielder Phil Johnson each scored four goals in the contest and Senior Attackman Mike Karns added three of his own. The Trojan defense lead by Seniors Andy Martin and Luke Gazdic and Junior AJ Marucci were able to stand tall time and time again against two of the leagues most potent scorers. Even so, Trinity's attackman Bobby Beresh had a six point outing notching five goals and an assist and Midfielder Shawn Grimm found the back of the net four times. The Trojans overall record is 2-1 and they are 2-0 in their division. Trinity falls to 2-1 in the division and 5-3 overall. The Trojans take on Butler High School at Gus Anderson Field on Thursday April 19th.
