Erie, Pa. May 2 - The McDowell (3-5) boys varsity lacrosse team
lost a hard fought game with Greensburg Central Catholic(9-1) at Gus Anderson
Stadium today. Greensburg led 2-1 at the end of the first period and
built the lead to 5-1 by half time. The hosts Trojans battled back
with strong aggresive defense and patient offense and out scored the visitors
in the second half 4-1. Their final goal came with 1:21 remaining in the
game. Greensburg won the ensuing face off and the aggressive McDowell
defense was not able to take the ball away from the visitors.
McDowell's stingey defense was led by senior captains
Brian Schnell and Pat McCain along with stellar efforts from junior Ed Maras
and senior long stick middie Adam Haas. McDowell goalie John Cleary had
a superior day in goal, recoding 24 saves and allowing just 6 goals.
Offensively the Trojans were paced by junior attackman and captain Tom Kingsmore.
Kingsmore had a hand in each of the Mcdowell scores and finsihed the day
with 4 goals and 1 assist. Senior attackman Caleb Triscuit chipped in a goal
and 2 assists. Adam Haas and Jimmie DeMatteis each added an assist.
McDowell's next action is Thursday when they travel to Canon MacMillan
