Eric Yeh (Head Coach)

Wexford, PA - Mar 24

Andrew Stimmel led the Panthers with three goals and an assist. Junior Andy Dodds added two goals and one assist. Chris Fedishen netted two goals and Carson Custer added one to round out the scoring. The Panthers spent a lot of time on man-down and were outshot 42 to 27. The Panthers did win more face-offs, but committed too many turnovers. The Blue Streaks paced the game with more ground balls and greater time of possession. The Panthers will look to rebound in their next game against Pittsburgh Central Catholic.

Murrysville, PA - Mar 28 - The Franklin Regional Panthers defeated the visiting Central Catholic Vikings 15-5.  For the second game in a row, the Panthers had to rally from behind, as the Vikings were on top early 3-0 on goals by Will Donley, Pat German, and John Leindecker. Superb goalkeeping frustrated the Panthers early, but a second period sequence of nine straight goals boosted the Panthers to victory in their home opener. Juniors Andy Dodds and Ryan Lynn scored three goals apiece and Senior attackman Chris Fedishen added two more to complement his three assists. Ten different players scored for the Panthers who generated 53 shots in the contest. Kyle Blauvelt and Carson Custer each had six ground balls for FR. Dan Tauche, Lynn, and Fedishen all grabbed four. Sewickley, PA - April 5 - The Franklin Regional Panthers persevered through a tough first quarter to win 8-3 over long-time rivals, Sewickley Academy Panthers. Sewickley jumped out with the first goal of the game after denying several FR attempts to score in the first quarter. All game long, excellent goaltending frustrated FR, who netted just 8 goals on 40 shots. Junior midfielder Jordan Krentz (3g) sticked the first goal for Franklin before adding two more in the game. Junior attackman Andy Dodds (2g, 2a) led FR with four points on the day. Carson Custer (1g, 2a), Chris Fedishen (1g, 1a), and Derek Young rounded out the scoring for Franklin Regional. Kyle Blauvelt grabbed a team high five GB's for FR and Fedishen picked up four. Both Pittsburgh squads will host Midwest League opponents before Spring Break. FR will host Detroit Country Day School and Birmingham-Seaholm. Sewickley will host Brother Rice Academy, University of Detroit-Jesuit, and Western Reserve Academy.

Murrysville, PA - April 21 -  The Franklin Regional Panthers came out of Spring Break strong, beating the visiting Seneca Valley Raiders 19-3 at home. The Panthers were swept by the Raiders in 2005, including a 9-8 overtime loss in last year's playoffs. A strong showing by the Panther seniors produced an early outcome this time. Attackman Chris Fedishen tallied six points (4g, 2a), including his team-leading 27th goal. Andrew Stimmel registered five points (1g, 4a) and fellow midfielder Sam Lanzino quick-sticked two goals of his own. Senior defender Andy Pianetti found the net with his 3rd and 4th goals of the season. Mark Duman and Chris Kellner also had tallies for the Panther seniors. Altogether, twelve Panthers scored in the match. Juniors paced the Panthers on ground balls. Ryan Lynn and Collin McLaughlin each picked up four GBs. The Panthers will travel to Peters Township for an important Division 1 South matchup on Saturday, 4/22. A belated congratulations goes out to Chris Fedishen who scored his 100th career goal on 4/11. That night, Chris also broke the Panthers' single game scoring record by registering 14 points, one more than the previous record which was held by FR Coach John Randolph (13).

Murrysville, PA - April 29 - The Panthers upset the visiting Mount Lebanon Blue Devils 13-7. The much anticipated showdown got away early as FR eventually earned a 6-0 lead at the half. The Devils took many quality shots early, but hit the post four times in that half. The third quarter proved to be fruitful for Devils, finding some success through crease-cuts and on man-up. The Panthers were able to match, squeezing in five more goals before the start of the final period. In total, ten Panthers earned goals on the day. Senior Carson Custer led the Panthers with six points while Zach Boyt led the Devils with three. Ground balls were relatively even (FR 17, Lebo 14). The Blue Devils had won all six previous meetings with the Panthers, dating back to the tenure of Peter Tulk and Corey O'Neil. The win secures a home playoff game for Franklin Regional and sets up a showdown with Upper St Clair on May 10 for the regular season Division I South Title. The Panthers will next host Shadyside Academy Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.
